Who are we?
Our home from home facility is designed with the safety and well-being of our little ones in mind, featuring bright, spacious classrooms, a variety of age-appropriate play areas, and a secure outdoor playground where children can explore and connect with nature.
In September 2025, Happy Days Nurseries and Pre-Schools was delighted to have been given the opportunity to expand its portfolio further with the acquisition of Edward Bears. The nursery will continue to be known as Edward Bears with the manager and staff team remaining in place. They will now be supported by the Happy Days Nurseries and Pre-Schools Directors and Support Centre Teams. For more information on Happy Days click here.

Our Approach
At Edward Bears Private Daycare we aim to follow closely the Curiosit pedagogy.This is a modern, innovative educational philosophy that combines elements from Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Steiner, and Te Whāriki approaches to create an environment rich in opportunities for children to engage in play-based learning driven by their own interests and curiosity.
It emphasises creating aesthetically pleasing, natural, and engaging environments that inspire children to explore and learn. This approach focuses on using real-life objects and materials, rather than plastic toys, to encourage children to use their imagination and develop their creativity, problem-solving skills, and critical thinking.
The Curiosity Approach advocates for respectful interactions where educators see children as competent, confident learners, capable of directing their own learning journey.
